Who are Supponor Ltd?
Supponor Ltd is a visual advertiser in the sports industry. Their technology allows advertisers to display unique ads for different markets meaning advertisements at sports events can be extremely well-targeted. You could be watching a football game in the UK meanwhile someone in the US is watching the same game at the same time but they will see a completely different advert. It’s perhaps no surprise then that this clever and bespoke approach to advertising was reflected in the bespoke merchandise Supponor chose. The team are incredibly proud of their brand, and so they should be. It looks absolutely fantastic with a mix of Teal and Navy. The two colours complement each other beautifully and were bound to be a hit on their merchandise when it was printed! This however comes with its own complications. Unfortunately, Teal in particular is not usually an ‘off-the-shelf’ colour.
Supponor Ltd was not going to compromise however and they opted for the bespoke made-to-order approach. Supponor Ltd approached us looking to produce some notebooks and pin badges to give to their staff and clients. Once we had taken a look at their brand guidelines and presented them with some visuals, it was clear that this was a really exciting brand to be involved with and we couldn’t wait to start creating some amazing bespoke merchandise with them.
What is a bespoke product?
Unlike the stock we hold that already exists in a range of popular colours. Going for a colour like Supponor’s Teal means creating a product from scratch. Although more costly, the beauty of this route is that you can have your merch exactly how you want it, right down to the last detail. The soft-touch notebooks that Supponor opted for, for example, are customised in a number of different ways.
The cover of the notebook is printed in full colour and completely made-to-order, which means just about any design is possible. This was ideal for Supponor Ltd as it meant they could print their perfect Pantone colour however so much more is possible should you want to go crazy with your bespoke notebooks.
Additionally to this; the elastic, ribbon and pen loop can all be chosen to match your brand from a huge range of colours. Supponor went for a contrasting Navy which looks spot on against the teal and ties in the logo on the front of the book very nicely. And it doesn’t stop there! You can even choose the pages of your notebook from lined, grids, or just plain. If you’re feeling adventurous, you can even add your own texture to the cover of the book.
So how does the bespoke print process work?
Unlike ‘off-the-shelf’ products, making bespoke products from scratch takes much longer. Typically we would expect around 3-4 weeks to create something like Supponor’s Notebooks. This is definitely something to bear in mind if you’re looking to go bespoke.
On top of this, we would recommend having a pre-production sample before you proceed with the bulk of your merch. This is like a ‘first off the run’ copy or a prototype. Because there are so many variables with these specially-made products it’s worth seeing your first copy in case there are any last-minute changes to the design to be made especially when you’re particular about your brand and your merch.
Supponor, for example, found that when they had received their pre-production soft-enamel badge. The ‘R’ mark in the top corner had been infilled with the wrong colour. As they followed our advice with the pre-production sample, we were able to resolve the issue for them before we went into production with the bulk.
Was the end result worth it for Supponor Ltd?
Absolutely! Although the results take a little longer, these bespoke merchandise options look fantastic when finished and we’ve loved helping Supponor Ltd create merch that’s bound to be a hit with their staff and clients.
