Reflections from Nottingham Business School: Sustainable Spring Workshop 2025
Aarti, Director of Extravaganza, recently attended the two-day Sustainable Spring event at Nottingham Business School. She walked away feeling both inspired and reaffirmed in her belief that sustainability and Net Zero aren’t just one-off projects—they’re ongoing, collaborative journeys that evolve.
No Single Roadmap—Just Collective Action
Across two impactful days filled with talks, workshops, and panel discussions, one message stood out to Aarti: there is no single roadmap to sustainability. What matters is co-creation, experimentation, and a shared commitment to doing what we can—together.

Learning from Market Changers
Aarti was particularly energised by the panel of market changers on Day 1. It was fantastic to hear from trailblazing start-ups like Cauli and Carbon Cell, as well as seasoned innovators such as Eight Group and Diode. Their stories underscored the importance of listening, adapting, and remaining closely connected to the needs of our communities.
The Value Equation: People, Planet, and Profit
One of the standout moments for Aarti was hearing Tristram Keech from The Imagination Factory speak about innovation as a “value equation” that balances people, planet, and profit. That message truly resonated with her. It reinforced the idea that sustainability isn’t just a box to tick—it’s about creating with intention, longevity, and meaning.
Another powerful takeaway came from Dr Rose Deakin’s practical session on carbon management. What made it so impactful for Aarti was not that it handed out all the answers but that it empowered attendees with the right questions to ask of themselves, their teams, and their supply chains.

Small Steps, Big Impact
While sustainability can often feel overwhelming, this event reminded Aarti that real progress comes from small, consistent actions. We don’t need to be perfect—we just need to keep moving forward every day.
We’re not chasing a revolution. We’re choosing to walk the path of evolution—together
